Boise State's Ashton Jeanty leaps onto Maxwell Award watch list, leading nation in eight categories

Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty has been added to the Maxwell Award watch list.

The Maxwell Award is presented to the best player in college football, and is often considered second behind only the Heisman Trophy in prestige.

Jeanty is leading the nation in the following categories: total all-purpose yards (1,264), all-purpose yards per game (180.57), total touchdowns (15), total points scored (90), points scored per game (12.9), yards after contact (604), missed tackles caused (66), and yards after catch among non-wide receivers (430). He is the only player in the country to record over 250 scrimmage yards in multiple games.

Jeanty is only the fourth Bronco to ever record multiple 200-yard games in the same season. He joins the likes of Jay Ajayi, Jeremy McNichols, and Alexander Mattison.

Jeanty was named First Team Midseason All-America by ESPN and CBS Sports on Tuesday, adding to the list of accolades piling up for the sophomore.
