CIUDAD VICTORIA, Mexico (AP) — A letter claiming to be from the Mexican drug cartel blamed for abducting four Americans and killing two of them condemned the violence and said the gang turned over to authorities its own members who were responsible. In a letter obtained by The Associated Press through a Tamaulipas state law enforcement official, the Scorpions faction of the Gulf cartel apologized to the residents of Matamoros where the Americans were kidnapped, the Mexican woman who died in the cartel shootout, and the four Americans and their families.

More than 1,000 pro-Palestine protestors clashed with the NYPD just blocks away from New York's Met Gala on Monday evening. Former "Dance Moms" star Kelly Hyland has been diagnosed with breast cancer, her daughter, Brooke Hyland, confirmed to ABC News. Hyland, 53, has invasive carcinoma stage 1, grade 3, meaning the cancer "will probably grow and spread faster," according to the American Cancer Society. "Since releasing the news to the public— the love & thoughts pouring in my mom/family's direction has been incredible," said Brooke Hyland in a statement to ABC News.
